VIEW FROM ROUTE 212 |
Today the weather was what the Harley gods do. Just spectacular riding weather. It was a cool 60 or so when I departed from my lodging in Tilton, NH around 8:30am. I rolled the throttle on and cooked up NH Route 3A out of Franklin just west of Tilton. What a great road, in fantastic condition, smooth twisties that are made for two wheel pleasure. I managed, however, to find what is possibly the shitiest road in all of NH within an hour or so. I hopped on what the "trusty" Rand McNally told me was a scenic route by the green dots on the map along side of the road. However mother nature has not been good to the roads in NH this year and that road TOTALLY SUCKED! It beat the shit out of me. I am just too old for that kind of treatment.

REST STOP ON ROUTE 212 |
As soon as I ran into another road, I jumped onto it just so I could try to realign my spine to its natural condition. I had a pounding headache from the pavement ups, downs, pot holes, etc. And trying to spot them going in and out of the shade was a bitch! If you ride bike, you get it.

SNACK BREAK BEFORE HITTING ROUTE 212 |
I found myself heading towards the Kanc, route 212 famous in this part of the country as a scenic road. However that highway has also been tormented by mother nature and because it was the end of a holiday weekend, it was packed. Not really enjoyable. Especially when I came down the other side of the mountain to bumper to bumper traffic. I thought, you have got to be kidding me.

LUNCH STOP IN PLYMOUTH, NH |
I eventually found my way back to route 3 and ran that back down to Franklin and into Tilton where I met up with Teresa (aka T ) for dinner again at the Onion, the restaurant down stairs in the B&B where I am staying. They had a HALF a lobster on special for $25. When they brought it out, I thought, crap, did I accidentally order the whole lobster? My, my, was it good! And plentiful!
After dinner, T and I walked down the street to the local park where a Beatles tribute band was putting on a free show. It was very nice. Apparently they do these every Sunday night in the summer, a different band each time. What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon with the family. America needs more things like this and less Grand Theft Auto. Can I hear an "amen" brothers and sisters? Tomorrow, I may cross over to Maine... not sure yet. Maybe flip a coin.
Peace.
