No Time Like the Present

After the little spill the day before, I ran the bike up to the only self serve car wash I could find. Riding through a gravel, pot hole filled parking lot, I choose a bay and set out, primarily, to get the oil off my rear disk. Well, that proved almost futile. After pre-soaking the bike, with extra care to the rear disk, I turn on the soap spay to find out there is NO soap! Then I also discover the spot free rinse agent is out too. I got it the best I could, however a functioning rear brake would prove elusive for the balance of the trip.

Before heading home, I wanted to enjoy more of the beautiful state of Vermont so I headed north, stopping
at a local HD shop along the way. The guys there pointed out a west ward cross over highway that would give me a spectacular view of a huge windmill farm on the top of a mountain ridge. I will say that, for as beautiful as Vermont is, they have NO scenic turn out places to allow for nice photos. I ran about a 200 mile loop for the day and only shot a couple of pictures. It was more a shake down for the bike and my spirit to make sure we were both ready for the ride home. Fortunately, I was the only thing that felt a little rough from the spill.

I got back to the motel in Woodstock that night and settled in for what I thought would be the third night of my motorcycle being the only vehicle parked in the east side of the parking lot. It seemed like the proprietor was keeping me away from all the other guests for the last two nights. As I sat out in front of the room, watching the cars go by, in pulled a group of bikes. It turned out that Patrick, the owner of the motel, had planned on grouping me with all these bikes that night, which is why he had not rented those rooms to any
other guests! We spent the early evening hours doing what bike people who randomly meet do...talking bull shit and telling tall tales. It was the perfect last night for my trip.
