Last Thoughts on The Way Home

I didn't plan on getting home on Friday when I left Woodstock, VT. I had decided I did not want to wrestle with traffic on the interstate through Albany, NY, so I followed US Route 4 through small little towns in Vermont and New York, enjoying the two lane black top and the peace a nice country ride provides. I wound down several different state and US routes before eventually meeting up with I-90 somewhere east of Utica around 12:30 in the afternoon. Somehow I made it home around 7:30 Friday night.

During the 550 or so miles it took me to get home, I had alot of time to think about things. Here are just a couple of thoughts that came to mind...

1. If a proprietor or manager of a lodging establishment thinks their place is clean, step inside of the shower and close the door or curtain and take a good look around. I stayed in one place where the grout along the shower door was moldy. You wouldn't see it unless you actually were in the shower looking around.
2. If you want to attract motorcycle riders to your establishment, pave your parking lot. There were multiple places that I considered stopping but the parking lots were gravel, and some of them appeared to be very loose gravel. I am not a whimp... I just put on 2,300 miles. But if I have my choice of a paved lot versus a gravel lot, I will pick the paved lot every time.
3. If you have motorcycles staying at your motel, offer a pile of old towels to wipe their bikes off with in the morning. The group at the motel the last night had chamis, but many riders aren't that prepared and will use your bathroom towels to wipe the dew off their motorcycles.
4. Don't over fill your oil. Just couldn't let that one go.
5. Don't be afraid to go do what you think you want to do. Just do it. Life is short.

Peace and thanks for coming along for the ride. I have to go mow now. Here are some of my previously unpublished pictures.
