Last Call for a February Bike Ride

Saturday morning broke with the threatened temperatures, so we took our time rolling out of the motel. We decided to keep the room one more night. Although Barb had been released to come home Friday night, we felt it would be best for them to have their space. Plus Buffalo's meds often result in nocturnal awakenings and he didn't want to disrupt Barb's recovery rest... my rest, apparently, was less important! LOL

We ran back over to Ronnie's and had some coffee with him and Barb. Ronnie wasn't free to ride with us as Barb needed him there with her. The sun was out and the weather was warming up and we could tell poor Ronnie was crying inside about having to stay home and watch us again ride off without him. We conferred with him about our intended ride route, which he agreed was an excellent choice for a short day ride. We loaded up our clothes bags before leaving this time and took off for a ride down Longboat Key. The day turned out to be perfect. We found a great spot for lunch, sitting across the street from the beach on the sidewalk under an umbrella, listening to a singer strumming his guitar. accompanied by a bongo drum player. They were singing, "Bye, bye Miss American Pie..." as we walked in and the folksy genre continued through our meal. On the way back to Sarasota, we stopped to walk on the beach.

As great as the weather was, and as much as we enjoyed ourselves on the trip, we decided to head home on Sunday. Our trip was winding down and we were getting anxious to see our dog and sleep in our own bed.

Peace...
