Road Trip 2013

Wow, how long has it been since we have hit the road with the bikes? 2009? Way too long ago... a lifetime, actually. And so it is, with a bitter sweet feeling, that I once again am able to post our intention to do a road trip with the bikes. A season of joy has just passed as Buffalo and I spent a Christmas together we didn't think was going to happen. The shadow that his current battle with the big "C" has cast over our lives, day to day, hour by hour, does not go unnoticed. And so it was, when the last CT scan detected that the cancer has started to grow again, that Buffalo said, "Time to pack up the scoots and run down to Florida."

BUFFALO TUNING UP!
We have always wanted to do this in the middle of winter, but it was not supposed to be something done with a sense of urgency. It was to be one of the many adventures we would fill our lives with as we watched the wrinkles form, the hair gray, and bodies age and the spirits soar in each other's company. But life doesn't always afford us the luxuries our hopes and dreams have teased us with. However, we are so blessed to be getting this opportunity when, four months ago, we were not sure Buffalo would make it through the Christmas holiday season.

SO!! On that note, my friends, family and followers, come along on our journey as we tackle this newest adventure on the road. We are scheduled to leave January 25th, the day after Buffalo's next scheduled chemo treatment, and we plan on being gone for about eleven days. We're taking alot more gear than we ever have before on a bike trip. For one thing, this is the first time ever that we are taking a vacation bike trip with the bikes in a trailer. My employer is generously loaning us a 14ft trailer to pack them up in. Unfortunately, there is no way that Buffalo could do the ride to Florida in the middle of summer and neither of us could risk it this time of year in good health! And we will have pill minders for the dozens of pharmacueticals that now keep him alive and relatively healthy...and we're taking oxygen tanks just in case things don't go as well as we are hoping.

BOBBI - READY TO RIDE!
But we are also taking our good spirits and our love and joy of adventure and travel! And we are taking all of you along for the trip! So enjoy the ride and try to keep up. I will probably really start posting near the day we leave, and will continue to do so as often as possible on the road, but just wanted to give everybody a heads up to save this in your bookmarks or favorites or where ever you file the fun places you like to visit on the web. Life is too short not to savor every moment, every opportunity. I have been so fortunate to have spent 30 years and counting with my soul mate. This is a celebration of our relationship.

Peace.

Bobbi
