Glenn H. Curtiss Museum

What a cool place! A total dude museum? Not!Glenn Curtiss was famous for being the "fastest man on earth" setting the land speed record on a motorcycle which held for years. Above is the motorcycle he rode. ..on the right. On the left, a bicycle from his shop. Below is the P40, one of the most ever produced fighter planes, by Curtiss aviation. Something for everybody. I was very impressed by the extensive displays of historical information of both the Curtiss aviation team as well as many others. Also included was the Glenn H. Curtiss history, from bicycle builder to motorcycle builder to aviator. What a fascinating individual. But what really impressed me was the large display given to the early women aviators, none of whom I had every heard. Not one mention of Emilia Earhart, who was a late comer to the the world of aviation. But of those pioneers who paved the way for her, plenty of homage was paid. The museum was packed full of many replicas of early Curtiss fliers as well as motorcycles, bicycles, and such. To the right is an "areocar", the predicessor to trailers, which he did not invent, but, merely perfected.
